EPL News: Poulsen working hard to impress at Liverpool as Toure touts up the fourth place
Christian Poulsen has come out and expressed his desire to really impress at Liverpool. The Danish midfielder who moved from Juventus to Liverpool during summer has been under scrutiny due to his below par performances but the midfielder
has said that he is working hard to win over the club’s fans sooner rather than later.
In a press release Poulsen said, "I'm still trying to settle in. I have only been here for three months and it has been a very hard start, not just for me but also for the club. We are struggling to get back up the league and I haven't
done as well as I would have liked. There have been many changes here. The coach is new, the owners are new and it is up to me to keep learning about how to play in the Premier League. I'm trying to work hard at Melwood and I hope that I can help the team
in the future”
He added to his remarks by saying, "I'm trying to do my best every single day. I know Liverpool are a great club and I hope that, after some time, I can improve and I can be help for the team. Do I feel I have to prove myself? Yes, for
sure. I have got to work harder because I have been brought in. People knew that I played for Juventus but that still means I have got to earn my stripes here. I want to show the fans that I can help the team and I am a good player."
Liverpool won on the previous weekend against Chelsea but then only drew against Wigan in their mid-week fixture of the English Premier League. Poulsen spoke about the team’s performances thus far as he said, "It is not about me. The team
is always the most important thing. We have had four victories in a row before Wigan and though we stepped down there, we are looking to change that back when we play Stoke. We want to get back to the levels we showed against Chelsea. You can't really afford
to let your level dip. The Premier League is very tough and this year you are seeing that every team can beat each other. I know people say it all the time but there are no easy games. I know it will be difficult at Stoke. They have some special qualities,
from the long throws so it will be a tough test.”
Liverpool’s new signing concluded by stating, "But when we play our best football we keep it on the ground and I hope we can manage to press our style on them.” Poulsen is not a regular starter at Liverpool at the moment but it will be
interesting to see how his career plans out at the Merseyside club.
On the other hand, Kolo Toure, the Manchester City defender was on hand to defend his team’s approach against the bigger teams in the English Premier League as he spoke to the media after City drew nil all with against a depleted Manchester
United side.
Toure said, “It's difficult to play against the big teams. If you don't lose against them then that is good. But for sure this weekend it will be different as these are must-win games. If you want to be fighting for the league you have
to beat these teams. I am not saying they are bad teams, but if we want to be top then we have to win those games. The most important thing in the Premier League is to make sure you beat the teams that you are supposed to beat. If you can do that and then
draw against the big teams like United then you will be OK. You can be up there. It's a long season."
Kolo Toure has realized that the recent draws with mediocre teams has diminished the club’s image and he wants to change that. He went onto elaborate on his remarks as he said, "We know about United. They are a top club with top players
and it was important not to lose the game as we had to keep the fourth place. When you play against the top teams, the most important thing is to try not to lose. This was a difficult game but we are delighted with a draw. Of course, the fans have to be patient.
It's very difficult as we were playing against top players. If you make a mistake then you will get punished. That's what we didn't want to happen. Most importantly, we have a draw and a point and that's good. The most important thing is not to lose."
