EPL News Review - Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea, Fulham
Blackburn Rovers:
Rovers’ boss has praised his young striker Junior Hoilett for his extraordinary performance during Blackburn’s last match. The new signing by Sam Allardyce was given his first start of the English League and he did well to earn his manager’s praise.
Sam said, "We've seen a fantastic performance from Junior Hoilett. We've been waiting for this ability to shine and from the very first minute, he was causing the Newcastle defence lots and lots of problems. At one stage, he ran from almost the edge of our
box to the end of their box and played a ball to Chimbonda and we were three on two in the area but we didn't find the right pass. So, it is very pleasing to see another young man produce a performance like that. It gives us the encouragement to know what
a player he can be with that ability. He has shown that he can step in and make the team as good if not better. I hope it gives him the encouragement to continue."
Bolton Wanderers:
Bolton Wanderers' chairman has revealed that the club may be forced to sell their two most talented players in order to cover their debts. Phil Gartside said that Bolton’s losses have increased to the highest level in club history. The Wanderers chairman
added that their defence line leader Gary Cahill may be put for sale during the upcoming winter transfer window. Moreover, Arsenal have shown interest in signing the English defender.
In addition to this, Gartside also said of his 29-year-old Swedish striker that Elmander would be out of contract at the end of this season and again if someone knocks on their door during the winter transfer window then that's obviously a consideration
Bolton would have to make.
Chelsea:
Barclays Premier League title holders have made the surprise announcement that their assistant manager Ray Wilkins has left the club. Wilkins' contract was close to expiry but no new deal was offered to him which forced Wilkins to leave. Chelsea chief executive
said that the Chelsea family would like to thank Wilkins for his all out efforts during his stay at the Stamford Bridge.
Fulham:
The talismanic centre half of Fulham, Aaron Hughes, has praised his young teammate Mathew Briggs following Briggs’ extraordinary performance against Premier League champions during the midweek match. Although, Fulham lost that match by one goal to nil but
it was an outstanding display from Mathew Briggs which was also his first start of the season for Fulham.
Aaron stated, "We see him [Briggs] everyday in training so we know he's got a lot of potential. He's a big, strong player who's really comfortable on the ball and that's why the manager had no problem putting him in a game like this. He showed everybody
exactly why the manager showed faith in him against Chelsea. He's got a good head on his shoulders, he works hard and over time he's only going to get better and that's good for us."
