EPL News Review: David Moyes in dark over Heitinga's future, FA to compensate Liverpool for Steven Gerrard’s injury
EVERTON:
The Everton manager admits he is in the dark over the future of his talismanic defender, John Heitinga. The veteran Dutch defender has been linked with the German Giants, Bayern Munich. The 27-year-old has played a bit-part role for the Toffees this season
after failing to gain full fitness following his participation in World Cup for Netherland.
David Moyes said, "I don't know if Heitinga will go in January, I really don't. There has been no official contact from anybody regarding Heitinga, and I don't know if Everton will cash in come January. His character and type is one who will battle, and
I have no reason to think it's anything other than just speculation. I haven't heard from Johnny or any clubs. He has to get on with it. There is competition for places and he is involved in that."
FULHAM:
Mark Hughes believes he is a better manager and tougher character following his sacking by Manchester City. The new boss of Fulham was fired by City last season when he failed to deliver the points quota demanded by the new owners.
Hughes said, "It was the first time I had been out of work ever, so it was difficult to take. Initially there was a sense of relief that I was out of the madness for a little while, then you close the door on it and move on. You review your performance and
say 'Could you have done any better?' and under the circumstances I don't think I could have done. The overriding feeling was disappointment. It's the old adage; you're not a proper manager until you get sacked."
LIVERPOOL:
It has been confirmed by FA that their insurers will pay compensation to Liverpool for their skippers’ hamstring injury which he sustained during the International duty while playing against France. It is estimated that FA will pay £500,000 to Liverpool
for Steven Gerrard’s injury. The 30-year-old has been ruled out for a month, which could have a significant effect on his side's season.
MANCHESTER CITY:
Citizens' right winger, Adam Johnson has claimed that he remains fully committed to Manchester City. There were suggestions earlier in the week that Johnson was becoming unsettled after failing to nail down a regular starting berth.
But, he has now told the club's website, "I said something in a moment of frustration and things can get blown out of proportion. I am happy here. I love playing football more than anything, and I'd love to play in every game. The first thing I thought,
when you read something like that, is the fans will think I want to get away. That hurt, because I care more about what the fans think than what anybody else thinks. I think the fans understand that I just want to play. When I play I try to give 100 per cent
every time, and I think that comes across in the way that I play."
