EPL News: Robbie Keane given permission to leave Tottenham Hotspurs
Robbie Keane, who happened to be Tottenham's captain and star striker at one point in the past, has had some major doubts over his future at the club for almost a year now.
So far this season, the striker had managed to make only two appearances for the team and was struggling on the pitch at both instances. However it has now been over a month since the player’s last involvement in clubs matches and it seems
like he could very well be on his way out of the team as early as this January.
Harry Redknapp the team’s manager is reported to have said: "He's not used to not playing. All his career, he's played and been a big player and he wants to play.
"He could sit here and take his wages, but that's not him.
"He wants to play football. He trains hard, works hard every day, he's shown a great attitude.
"And probably the hardest decision I had to make was last week: I couldn't get him on the bench.
"It wasn't easy when you respect somebody and what a good player he is or has been. It was hard, because he's still a good player."
The manager then went on to state that he did not want to waste the player’s career and would be looking to offload him if the occasion should arise but of course that would happen when a tea, places a bid for the player.
The two teams who have come into strong contention to sign the player are the Vancouver Whitecaps and Aston Villa. The Whitecaps are a team that are only recently formed and are looking to make their debut in the MLS this coming season.
Aston Villa on the other hand will be looking to land Keane adding experience to their young squad and in hopes to break into Europe.
According to most experts, Keane should relish the opportunity to join Villa, since at his age it would be close to impossible for the player to join any other team in the Premier League ever again.
