EPL News: Roman Pavlyuchenko adds to Tottenham’s worries
Roman Pavlyuchenko, who was ruled out during the weekend’s Premier League match, seems to have suffered some serious ligament injury and could potentially be out for a couple of months. The player was replaced by Peter Crouch in the game, but it seems like
Harry Redknapp has started to grow some serious concerns regarding his striker force.
Crouch could potentially be the only striker at White Hart Lane for the near future if we take into account the fact that Jermaine Defoe, Robbie Keane and now Pavlyuchenko are all out with injuries.
Keane however seems to be on the fastest route back to recovery and could be back in the side as soon as next weekend.
Redknapp is reported to have said: "I could do with Robbie if Pavlyuchenko's got a bad back. It leaves me with only Crouchy.
"I've got no-one else I can push up front, really, even (Aaron) Lennon, who could play through the middle at a pinch."
The manager must however surely know that Lennon has not been performing at his best so far this season. On the other hand the manager must also take into account the fact that Lennon has had some serious injury problems in the past and it might not be worth
the risk to play him in such a vulnerable position.
The team has played most of the season so far without Defoe and with Pavlyuchenko out the team could face some serious turbulence in the near future. Despite the fact that Gareth Bale and Rafael Van Der Vaart have often been contributing to the goal scoring
this season, the team needs its strikers up front because players from the midfield and defence don’t have goal scoring as their primary objective.
The manager has started to grow highly concerned about the way things are going about at the club and is reported to have already started targeting a number of strikers to bring into the team in the January transfer window.
One of the players that the manager has targeted is Luis Suarez the Uruguayan hit man who is currently employed by Ajax. Ajax are currently struggling financially and a significant bid for the team’s captain could potentially seem him make his way to London
as early as this coming January.
