EPL News: The biggest grudge match in English football- Liverpool vs. Manchester United (Part 1)
The Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has declared that beating Liverpool in the English Premier League would be the perfect catalyst that would propel the Red Devils in to the League and make them catch up for lost time.
He stated that no doubt United had lost unfortunate points this season but if the Red Devils are able to thwart the Reds, who happen to be their arch enemies then Old Trafford would have made it up for the lost points at the start of the season.
Manchester United won their first match but drew their second against Fulham with a 2 -2 score. They then won their third match but then drew their latest against Everton at 3 -3 in the dying moments of the game.
In the whole of the match, Manchester United dominated and led till the end 3-1 but the last minute substitutions by Toffees relayed a very different story. Blues manager David Moyes articulated a plan to his men that they were able to accomplish beautifully
and the blue part of Merseyside end the match though in a draw but did it gloriously.
Due to this, Manchester United have lost 4 crucial points at the beginning of the season, a season in which the Top 4 are no longer defined as the United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal. In fact, the last and current season has shown that there are many
teams in the English League now that have grown and increased their performance, raising the bar of competition.
For example in the lasts season where Portsmouth, Hull City and Burnley were relegated despite producing upsets and some good performances it lead one to think that the over all quality of the league has definitely increased.
That season Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley and Birmingham City got promoted because of their performance in 2008-09. While Chelsea won the League title and Manchester United were the runner up, Arsenal came third and Tottenham Hotspurs came fourth. They
also qualified for the Champions League tournament.
The Europa League places were acquired by Manchester City who came at a close 5th position, Aston Villa who came in at sixth and Liverpool who disappointed everyone by finishing at the seventh.
This season so far, Chelsea is in a good position to defend their title as they have been winning all their matches acquiring 12 points from 4 matches with stunning goal difference of

+16.
At the second position is Arsenal who drew their opening match against Liverpool courtesy of their goal keeper Pepe Reina, who accomplished some excellent tomfoolery on the field. They have lost 2 points because of the draw and therefore have 10 points.
In addition to that, they to possess an impressive goal difference of +10.
On the third position is Manchester United having scored 8 points and with a goal difference of 6. This might just be the last season of Sir Alex Ferguson managing at the club, therefore he will have to fight tooth and nail to deliver his promise of gaining
more titles than Liverpool and ‘knock them of their perch’.
At the fourth position is Blackpool, who have scored 7 points in with a 0 goal difference. They are closely followed by Birmingham City. Birmingham City have signed in some world class player this season including Alexandr Hleb and Nikola Žigić.
At the sixth position is Fulham, who have scored 6 points and have a goal difference of +1 and they are leaving behind Aston Villa just because of their goal difference as they have managed a -3 with 6 points on the table.
