EPL News: United manager Alex Ferguson declares Nani unfit to play; reveals injury list
In what came out as the latest news from Old Trafford, Manchester United’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson informed that the Portuguese forward Nani has been injured therefore, he will be unfit to participate in the upcoming Wolverhampton Wanderers match.
The winger has shown exceptional form this season, being the sole supporter and saviour of the Red Devils a couple of times. He has scored many stunning goals including spectacular assists therefore, his participation for the team is extremely important.
The injury to Nani occurred in the Champions League fixture against Bursaspor. Though the Red Devils won the match, but they did have to sacrifice their most in-form player this season.
Nani has shown amazing form in his club’s domestic league, the English Premier League, where he already has a couple of assists and stunning goals to his name making him one of the best players in the season so far.
Although Sir Alex Ferguson and company have recorded a 3-0 victory, they will now have to buckle up to face Wolves for which Nani will not be a part of the team. That match will be the least of their worries for now as they will be thinking of what will happen in the upcoming week where they will have their derby match.
The derby match is against Manchester City, a team that gave Old Trafford a tough time in both legs, earlier. The team from blue part of Manchester played so well that Fergie admitted they were no longer the noisy neighbours as playing them gave him a headache now.
Nani’s absence from the squad in the match will be a major setback for the side. However, that was not the worst among news as Nani is not the only player from the team who is injured. Midfielder, Darren Fletcher, has also been deemed injured after he received a knock in the Bursaspor match after which he had to be substituted.
He is joined on the bench with Anderson, as the Old Trafford boss has stated that he will still be in rehab so his appearance against Wolves is doubtful. Darron Gibson’s fate is also unpredictable as there is a very small chance of him making full recovery before the match.
Ferguson elaborated on the issue saying, “Unfortunately, Nani has a groin injury and is out for Saturday.”
While talking to media the 68 year old gaffer informed, “I think Darren will be out as well, so that part has been disappointing.”
This will be United’s first major streak of injuries in the season; therefore, the manager will have to plan a schedule for his players very carefully. With ample amount of experience under his belt much is expected from him as he continues to proceed in his desire to gain one more league title than Liverpool.
He expressed on the injury issue saying, “It is disappointing but these things happen in football. We may have Darron Gibson back after a bout of flu but Anderson has had a virus as well and I don't think he will be ready.”
