EPL News: United to bring in former World Number One, Gianluigi Buffon
Manchester United are looking all set to make an official move for the former world number one goal keeper, Gianluigi Buffon from Juventus. The move will however have to wait till the end of the season to go through and Buffon is currently cup tied and would
be useless to United if brought in as early as January.
It was revealed earlier this month in Italy that the only team that were actually seriously pursuing the shot stopper, were the most dominant force in England. With that in mind and with United’s current number one, Edwin Van Der Sar on the verge of calling
it quits to his playing career, Buffon could soon find himself playing amongst the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
A move for the player will not be made in January due to the fact that the player is cup tied and because the keeper is currently recovering from an injury. The team does not want to put all their eggs in one basket as given the fact that Buffon is in his
thirties his injury could be far more serious than it appears to be and if United are to land a keeper that never manages to recover then they might just have another Owen Hargreaves on their hands.
United were believed to make a move for the keeper this past summer, but with the keeper committing himself to the Italian side, the move never really came into being. However with United now being on the desperate search to acquire a quality keeper, the
team might just be able to land the best goal keeper to ever come out of Italy.
The move is of course still subject to both the teams and the player agreeing to terms on the deal. Nonetheless the experts believe that a move to United is an opportunity that would quite possibly never arise in the player’s career again and that Buffon
should leap at making the switch should the occasion arise.
