EPL News: Van Persie informs Van Der Vaart could have been at Arsenal, but no one listens to him
Arsenal's star striker and more than often injured player, Robn Van Persie has come forth and stated that the player had stated numerous times to manager Arsene Wenger in the summers that the club should make a move for Real Madrid's out
of favour midfielder Rafael Van Der Vaart.
The player has since managed to go on and join Tottenham, who happen to be Arsenal's fiercest rivals and has so far been the player of the season for the team. He has even managed to score an astonishing seven goals in twelve games from
the midfield and will be looking to take on Van Persie and Arsenal in his next game.
Van Persie is reported to have said: “He (Van der Vaart) is a great footballer, I know the quality he has.
“I would rather have him at Arsenal. I indicated a couple of times that Rafael would be useful for Arsenal but that advice was not followed.
“I regret the fact he was not signed, but it is the right of the club – this is just my opinion.
“Now you can see the result. Spurs were a good team but now they are a top team.”
Van Persie is quite possible feeling homesick and felt that the addition of another Dutch player to the team, would give the extra push that he needs to perform even better for Arsenal.
However the player fails to realize that coaches spend years at learning to do what they do and even though players have their opinions, at the end of the day it is the manager’s decisions that are taken into account.
On the other hand if Van Der Vaart was to join Arsenal then he would have to face some tough competition from the more than competent Arsenal midfield. That is something he has not had to do at Tottenham and as a result has managed to
perform to his best at White Hart Lane.
