EPL Player Ratings: Blackpool v Liverpool – Part 1
Kenny Dalglish took charge of his first premier league game against Ian Holloway’s high-flying Blackpool side. The Tangerines produced one of the major shocks of the 2010-11 season when they completed their double over the Reds with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 but his counterpart Charlie Adam produced yet another scintillating display to enhance his growing reputation and inspire the Seasiders to complete the double over Liverpool.
Here are the player ratings from Wednesday’s encounter.
BLACKPOOL
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Richard-Kingson-c31087: 6.0
He could not have done anything to stop the superb striker from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 and although he looked shaky at times, he had a comfortable night otherwise.
Neal Eardley: 6.0
He hardly gave Jovanovic any time and space on the left hand side and covered well for his centre backs as well.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Cathcart-c9473: 7.5
He was a rock at the back and made countless number of crucial interceptions. He won most of the aerial duels and kept the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528 Leiva in check whenever the two made their burst through the middle.
Stephen Crainey: 6.5
He supported Cathcart brilliantly and countered well with what Liverpool had to throw at him. He should be a bit disappointed with the way Torres found time and space to shoot Liverpool in front.
Ian Evatt: 6.0
He did look a bit shaky at the back as most of Liverpool attacks came from his side. He completely lost Torres for the goal but made amends when he won a towering header over Martin Skrtel and nodded the ball for Dudley Campbell to score the winner.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Elliot-Grandin-c12333: 6.0
His return from injury could not have gone any better and although he seemed to drift in and out of the game, his overall contribution was satisfactory.
Charlie Adam: 8.5
Another cracker of a performance by the Blackpool skipper showed exactly why so many clubs are chasing his signature. He ran the show from the middle of the park with his crisp long and short passing. His touch and driving runs were a treat to watch and
with Liverpool showing interest in signing him, he has baulked up his price tag with the performance.
David Vaughan: 7.5
He complemented his classy skipper with a tireless performance in the middle of the park. He showed some lovely touches and extremely neat passing. He also set up Blackpool’s first goal and never stopped pressing Liverpool players.
Luke Varney:  6.5
He enjoyed his football as he linked up with his teammates to a great effect. He had a great battle with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Kelly-c24395 and seemed to have no shortage of confidence. It was another impressive display by the winger.
Dudley Campbell: 7.5
He deserved a goal for his performance and he got it when he headed the ball past http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-Reina-c29672 for the winner. He held the ball up well when needed to and never gave Liverpool defenders a minute’s rest. His all-action display against a dodgy Liverpool defence
was all his manager could have asked for.
Gary Taylor-Fletcher: 7.0
He was lucky when a touch back of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884 fell in his path but he made no mistake and slotted the ball calmly to make it 1-1. He linked up superbly with his teammates, particularly with his talismanic skipper.
SUBSTITUTES:
Matt Phillips: 6.5
He made a nuisance of himself after coming on and was full of running.
Alex Baptiste: N/A
He came on late in the game, just to see out the last couple of minutes.
Keith Southern: N/A
His late introduction was to add fresh lags to the midfield and help see out the game.
