EPL Player Ratings: Blackpool v Liverpool – Part 2
In part two, we look at how Liverpool players fared in their eighth away defeat in the League. Although Liverpool lost their fifth consecutive match away from home, some decent performances would have pleased Kenny Dalglish especially the contribution of
his star striker Fernando Torres.
Here are the player ratings for the Liverpool players.

Liverpool’s stand-in skipper put on another terrific performance as he pushed away a bullet of a shot from Charlie Adam and made countless other crucial saves to keep his side in the game. He was unlucky to concede two goals as he couldn’t have done anything
to stop either of them.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Kelly-c24395: 6.5
He earned rave reviews after his display at Old Trafford during the second week of January 2011 and the youngster did not disappoint once again. He set up Torres with a perfectly weighted pass and looked solid at the back as well, though he was booked for
a late challenge on Luke Varney.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Agger-c9884: 5.5
The Dane looked out of sorts when defending as his unconvincing tackle on Taylor-Fletcher failed to materialise which led to the first goal. He was then found wanting when DJ Campbell headed the ball home freely from 6 yards to score Blackpool’s second of
the match.
Martin Skrtel: 5.5
He struggled to cope up with the pace and movement of the Blackpool’s front men. He was relatively easily beaten by Ian Evatt for the knock down header which led to the winner. It was another disappointing display from the Slovakian.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Glen-Johnson-c15050: 6.0
He was strangely played out of position, but defended reasonably well. However, he never really got forward to any good effect. He made a few errors but was generally solid.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Poulsen-c9114: 5.5
He was reasonably reliable on the ball as he tried to keep things simple. However, his lack of energy levels and pace was exposed on more than one occasion.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lucas-c22528 Leiva: 7.0
He played like he used to in his Gremio days, running up and down the pitch as a genuine box-to-box midfielder. He was the engine room of his team and although his passing was not up to the mark, his performance was one of the positives for Liverpool.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-Meireles-c30678: 5.5
He tried to inspire his team but at times overdid it. He tried too many fancy passes and killer balls when he could have played a simpler pass. He gave the ball away on a number of occasions and one of them led to the first Blackpool goal.
Milan Jovanovic: 5.5
The Serbian was a surprise inclusion in the starting eleven and was very much involved in the first half. However, he faded away in the second period and was short of ideas whenever he got close to the Blackpool’s 18-yard box. He might not be starting another
league game for some time now.
Dirk Kuyt: 5.5
He failed to make any significant contribution but his effort and commitment cannot be questioned. He ran up and down the flank and was always looking to get the ball. However, his touch deserted him at crucial times and he often gave the ball away.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707: 6.5
He showed why he is hailed as a star striker when he scored a sensational goal. It seemed he had gone too wide to score from that angle, but the Spaniard unleashed a rocket of a shot to make it 1-0. He looked sharper than most of his teammates and made some
really nice runs. However, he is still not at his very best.
SUBSTITUTIONS

The youngster came on for a tired-looking http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348 but failed to get involved enough in the game.
David Ngog: N/A
The Frenchman was introduced very late on to make any real impact.
