EPL Player Ratings: Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester United – Part 2
We saw how well the defensive players performed for Tottenham Hotspur. Let’s now take a look at the Manchester United players and analyse their performance in the stalemate at White Hart Lane.
MANCHESTER UNITED
Edwin van der Sar: 7.0
He did not make anyone feel that he has been out of the game for some time. On his return to the starting line-up, the Dutchman remained untroubled for large parts but was up to the task whenever called upon.
Rafael Da Silva: 6.0
He was lucky not to be sent off earlier in the game when he flew in with a two-footed tackle on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 was sent off recently. He was however extremely busy throughout the match. He kept a lid on Gareth Bale’s
runs and made many of his own forward forays. He eventually got a second yellow after tripping David Assou-Ekotto and received his marching orders.
Rio Ferdinand: 7.5
As cool as you like, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 captain was calm and composed throughout the 90 minutes and hardly put a foot wrong. Question marks remain over his physical fitness as he certainly does not have any pace left to play in this League. However, his understanding
of the game and positional play was second to none.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550: 8.5
United’s skipper was the man of the match hands down and was everywhere. He hardly allowed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peter-Crouch-c29741 any room all night and held the defence together. His desire and passion was there for everyone to see and he was their inspirational leader on the night.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Patrice-Evra-c29231: 6.5
Not much of action took place on his side and he did not look at his usual best. Aaron Lennon’s pace did trouble him at times but otherwise, it was a solid display by the Frenchman.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Darren-Fletcher-c10361: 6.5
It was a typical all-action performance from the Scot. He was full of running and never gave up on any lost causes. He also helped Rafael Silva to nullify the threat posed by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422.
Luis http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nani-c27299: 5.0
The real disappointment of the match was the Portuguese. United’s best player so far in the 2010-11 season failed to make any sort of an impact. He looked clueless and tired and reminded us of the old Luis Nani.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ryan-Giggs-c31985: 6.5
Giggs marked his 600th league appearance with yet another colossal display. He put in another top drawer display like he has done in his previous 599 games in the League. His vision and awareness is unbelievable and add to that his ability to
do whatever he wants to do with the ball, makes him a true legend of the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Carrick-c25282: 6.0
A decent game against his former club, Carrick hardly did anything of note during the game but kept things simple and made some vital interceptions. Sir Alex will be satisfied with his display.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dimitar-Berbatov-c11254: 5.5
Another former Tottenham star who failed to spark into life, Berbatov looked lethargic and that is when his tricks and flicks are not coming off. He looks as if he is not bothered and he wasted a chance to impress his boss in a big game.
Wayne Rooney: 6.0
On his return to the starting line-up, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Heurelho-Gomes-c16173 to make the save of the day down to his right. However, he is far from the Rooney of 2009-10 and
will need some goals to get his confidence back.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Anderson: 6.5
Looked lively after coming on and injected more pace to United’s midfield.
Chicharito: N/A
He came on late in the game and hardly had time to make any impact on the proceedings.
