EPL Review: Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Chelsea and Everton
Blackburn Rovers:
Striker Nick Blackman is eager to agree a new loan deal at Motherwell. The 21-year-old joined Motherwell on a short-term deal until January and has immediately impressed, scoring ten goals in 14 matches.
With Blackman’s impressive performance for the League one side, Motherwell manager has made Manager Craig Brown clear that he wants to keep on-loan Blackburn striker longer and the youngster confirmed he would relish the opportunity to stay at Motherwell.
Blackman said that joining Motherwell had been a brilliant move as he was in desperate need of first team football. He added he was keen to extend his stay at Motherwell. He also told media that he was in the last year of his contract at Blackburn and did
not talk to the club manager for a new deal.
Sam Allardyce’s men are currently on the thirteenth spot, having managed 15 points out of 13 matches.
Blackpool:
Blackpool’s legendary manager has publicized that his two recent starting line-ups for his team have been leaked on an internet message board a day early. Holloway's team selection has been a major talking point after he made 10 changes for the trip to Aston
Villa on Wednesday. But it has now emerged that his side against Villa did not come as a major surprise to everyone after being posted on a fans site 24 hours before kick-off. Moreover, Blackpool’s starting line-up for the match against Bolton also appeared
on the website a day early and Holloway is angry that his plans became public knowledge.
Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette "I'd like to know how our team is getting on a fans' website. How can somebody reveal that we were making 10 changes? That is our business and please don't write it on there. My team for Villa went up on Tuesday night.
Please keep your nose out and mind your own business. If you want to come and talk to me about whom I am picking, then please do. Do you think you're clever, because I don’t?"
Blackpool is one of the newly promoted clubs of Barclays Premier League and has performed extraordinarily in this season. Blackpool drew their last match against West Ham United in a crucial away fixture.
Chelsea:
Midfielder Frank Lampard will be side-lined for an additional two to three weeks after suffering a muscular injury in training on Thursday. The talismanic English midfielder sustained an abductor muscle injury towards the end of the session, having been
on course for a return to action on Sunday against Sunderland following a two-month stint on the side-lines with a hernia problem.
Everton:
Everton’s boss has accused himself for the slow start of his summer signing Jermaine Beckford at Goodison Park. David Moyes also admitted that he did Beckford a bit of damage by playing him too soon.
The summer signing of David Moyes finally opened his goal scoring account of Everton by curling home a brilliant late equaliser against Blackburn few weeks ago. It ended a long wait for the 26-year-old who, after proving fruitful at Leeds United, firstly
found the step up to the Barclays Premier League problematic.
Moyes said: "It's a big leap, two divisions - it is a big thing we are asking him to do. What I didn't want was a lot of media putting pressure on him to come into the team and score goals. But it wasn't the media, it was me. That is why I took responsibility.”
