EPL Review: Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool and Bolton Wanderers
Blackburn Rovers:
Rovers’ boss labelled his side’s defensive lapse last week at the Spurs as "diabolical".
Sam Allardyce said: "The game from my point of view as a defensive unit was diabolical and as an attacking unit very exciting. But it is no good gifting the opposition four goals before you start putting the ball in the back
of the net.”
The Blackburn boss added that he was very disappointed about the way his team defender. Blackburn Rovers gave themselves too big a mountain to climb by not performing basic defensive duties. He also claimed that there were few moments
in the game in which his side looked dominant. Sam Allardyce also claimed that the penalty given against his team was a wrong decision which affected Blackburn’s overall performance too.
The Rover boss said: “Paul Robinson had both hands on the ball but they missed it. We had two chances which we didn't take and then Gareth Bale goes up the other end and puts a cross in and Pavlyuchenko knocks it in for 2-0.
That is the telling time in football you have to punish the opposition when you are in control of the game. We made a lot of chances in the second half. But their third goal summed our defending up. It was a good save from Paul Robinson and the ball falls
to Givet. All he has to do is clear but he gives it to Peter to score. That summed us up in that one moment. We should really have scored more than two. It was nice to see us open them up in the way we did. But Bale punished us severely."
After the thrashing from Spurs, Blackburn Rovers are in bottom half of the table with only 15 points out of 13 games.
Blackpool
Ian Holloway maintains the "gloves are off" for his Blackpool squad as he looks to do all he can to keep them in the top flight football of England. The merit of Ian Holloway’s team selection may be unpredictable but he believes employing
every possible combination to get the results needed is a just cause.
The Blackpool manager said that he had kept a promise to his players who got then up last year that they would play Barclays Premier League games. He added that his team had played 13 games so far and there was no more space of any mistake.
Bolton Wanderers:
Bolton Wanderer’s striker, who scored the first goal of his Bolton Wanderers’ career last weekend, said that he was pleased with his performance last weekend. Holden suffered a setback shortly after joining Bolton last winter when he picked
up an injury while on international duty with America which caused him to miss most of the rest of the season. But the American has bounced back to play in every league match so far for the Wanderers this season and finally broke his duck against Wolves. The
25-year-old put Wanderers 3-0 up last week and having expressed his relief at getting on the score sheet, Holder is now looking to add to his tally.
Holden said that his goal was a team goal which was set-up nicely by his team mates and all he needs to do was to put the ball inside the net. He added that he hoped to score more and more goal for his team.
