EPL Review: Manchester United, Newcastle United, Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspurs
Manchester United:
Manchester United’s talismanic striker, Wayne Rooney has been tipped to return to first team action in near future. The 24-year-old English striker has managed to make one appearance so far in this season after being severely affected by an injury. It was
also revealed last week by Manchester staff that Wayne was sent to America for some rehabilitation process.
Manchester United’s Mike Phelan stated on the issue: "Wayne has been doing really well. He has been training really hard, working morning and afternoon. Our people out there who are looking after him have been really pleased with his attitude and approach. We
will see where he is at but we think he will have improved immensely."
Newcastle United:
Goalkeeper Tim Krul was able to take the positives as Newcastle United enjoyed a measure of relief from their bout of home sickness. Saturday's 0-0 draw with Fulham was less than that for which Newcastle community had expected, but it was a better result
after being defeated by Bolton at St James Park, which is their third defeat at home so far this season.
The Magpies goalkeeper said: "Chris said he wanted a reaction from us after Wednesday, and I think we were better than Fulham, but sometimes you have to be happy with a draw. Fulham are a good side and they have some great players and we must be happy.
To be honest, we had our opportunities and we worked our socks off. We showed the passion and we had our opportunities, but it wasn't to be and I would rather take a point than lose, as we did on Wednesday. We have to be happy with what we did. We have conceded
some sloppy goals this season, so to get the first clean sheet at home is always a good thing. The form we are in, we showed again on Saturday we are capable of competing with any team, and I am looking forward to going to Bolton."
Newcastle United is also one of the promoted clubs of this season and currently they are in the top half of Barclays Premier League table.
Recently, they dismayed Arsenal by defeating them at Emirates by one goal two weeks ago. Moreover, the Magpies also thrashed their city rivals, Sunderland, by five goals two weeks ago.
Stoke City
Stoke City’s boss felt his tactics were spot-on in his side’s win over Liverpool, which also placed the Potters in the first half of Barclays Premier League table.
Tony Pulis said that he was very pleased with his team performance. He added that it was a difficult week for his side, and to face Liverpool at the end of week was a difficult task and his team did well to earn all three points. He also praised his team
and said that his boys showed loads of passion and commitment.
Tottenham Hotspurs
The former Real Madrid midfielder, Rafael van der Vaart has been urged by Harry Redknapp to increase his match fitness. The Dutch midfielder has become a firm favourite at his new club since joining Spurs from Real Madrid in September, scoring in all six
of his matches. But Spurs manager reckons Van der Vaart showed signs of fatigue towards the end of last few matches and still needs to fully adapt playing in the Barclays Premier League.
Redknapp said that Van der Vaart disappeared in the second half against Sunderland. He would have to adjust playing whole matches.
