Liverpool:
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson claims that he has no problems with his goalkeeper Jose Reina suggesting that he will reassess his position at Anfield at the end of the season. Reports emerged on Tuesday which quoted the Spain international as saying he will
stay at the club until at least the end of the season.
But, Hodgson didn't seem worried by his reported comments. He said, "That is fair enough, what's wrong with that? There is always spin put on these things but as far as I am concerned we are very happy to have Pepe Reina and I hope he will stay a lot longer
than that. If at the end of the season, he doesn't want to play for Liverpool any more then we'd have to deal with that situation when we come to it. But I don't understand why, seven or eight months from the date I'm being asked to give my opinion on it.
He is an excellent goalkeeper and I hope he plays for Liverpool for years and years to come. If he doesn't want to play for years and years to come we'll deal with the situation when it occurs."
Manchester City:
Manchester City striker, Mario Balotelli has lost his appeal against his three-match ban after being sent off against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday. The Football Association upheld the straight red card that Balotelli was shown for a tangle with Youssouf
Mulumbu.
The FA statement read, "At a Regulatory Commission hearing, a claim that the standard punishment is clearly excessive from Manchester City's Mario Balotelli was dismissed. As a result, Balotelli will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect."
The decision means that the 20-year-old Italy international has already missed Manchester Derby and will also be out of action in coming two games against Birmingham and Fulham.
Manchester United:
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been installed as the new manager of Molde, severing a 14-year tie with Manchester United. He was named the manager of his town’s club after he decided to quit as reserve team manager of Manchester United.
Solskjaer’s time at Manchester United will forever be remembered for his heart-stopping injury-time winner in the 1999 Champions League final against Bayern Munich.
Newcastle United:
While talking about his club’s impressive form, manager Chris Houghton said, "It is tough when you come into this division having been out of it and the expectations on all three teams are that you will work your way into the division and learn about the
division and hopefully get stronger as it goes on. We are still very early in the season and what we can't afford to do is getting carried away with the form we are in at the moment, which we are delighted with."
Stoke City:
Dean Whitehead admitted that his team had been made to sweat for their 3-2 win over Birmingham at the Britannia Stadium which ended their run of four straight defeats. Robert Huth gave the Potters first-half lead before a superb solo effort by Ricardo Fuller
appeared to have wrapped up a straightforward win for the hosts.
However, Alex McLeish's men fought back as substitute Keith Fahey's volley and Cameron Jerome's header brought them level and looked favourites to win it until Whitehead capitalised on a defensive mix-up in the six-yard box to net Stoke's winner. Whitehead
said that their main priority was to get whole three points and in the end they were successful in getting them.
