EPL Special Report: Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson to invest in firepower at Anfield to help Fernando Torres (Part 2)
It is the out of favour West Ham United striker Carlton Cole that has caught the attention of Hodgson. Hodgson will obviously be allotted a purse amount of money to sign players in the January transfer window so it is expected that the players he will sign
will be unused by other clubs.
With his own striker like David N’Gog and Ryan Babel unable to help the Spanish World Cup winner Torres in the offence Hodgson has declared that he will be looking for a striker and Cole at the moment is being used as a mere bench warmer at Upton Park so
the probability is high of him featuring in the sale window this winter and the price tag will be more than affordable.
The manager of Hammers Avram Grant has barely used Cole this season and he is therefore raring to go back on field hence the Liverpool offer will be more than welcome. Also West Ham United is currently at the bottom of the English Premier League table so
the player will be more exuberant about leaving his failing club behind.
Liverpool itself are a shadow of their former self but nonetheless they are eyeing a comeback and Cole will be happy to be a part of that. Liverpool happen to be on a shortage of secondary striker as the French man David N’Gog is a solo rider upfront and
Ryan Babel has been used but chemistry between the Dutch man and players just does seem to form.
Jovanovic on the other hand has been dismissive and would be better suited as a midfielder or a winger. Joe Cole on the other hand desperately needs to find his mojo back.
This was also one of the main reasons the previous manager of Liverpool, Spaniard Rafael Benitez was eventually sacked. Well his tactics are again under scrutiny at Inter Milan, the title defenders of Champions League and Serie A. Nevertheless that is another
story.
Liverpool over the advent of past 5 years has barely found a stable shadow striker as many have come and went. The Tottenham Hotspurs Robbie Keane was one example. The Irish man had a terrific season with White Hart Lane and when the transfer window opened
Benitez immediately put a bid for him, he eventually did end up with him but the player again just couldn’t fit in.
Players from Liverpool having been raging for  a long time that the Red skipper maestro Steven Gerrard can’t take all the burden Reds’ Merseyside on his shoulders so the club does need to sign in some experienced big players. Apart from Hammer’s that is
another thing the club should keep on top of their to-do list.
However the former great Cole if does manage to find his former form than the club will have struck a jackpot. At the moment however his is on a rebellion at Upton Park, giving controversial statements about West Ham United and his manager Grant.
