EPL – http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196 terms seventh place as unacceptable
Steven Gerrard has come out and asked his teammates to improve on their performances as he has termed a seventh place finish for Liverpool in the English Premier League season as an unacceptable one. Last season, Liverpool finished seventh in the English
Premier League after a horrendous league campaign under the management of Rafael Benitez. After finishing second during the 2008-2009 Premier League season, Liverpool have gone downhill as they faced financial and administrative difficulties in their off-the-pitch
matters.
Gerrard, who returned from his own injury troubles to play for Liverpool in their latest league triumph against Fulham, also made it clear that the team as a whole will have to step up their performances. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 have already suffered some humiliating
defeats to lower ranked teams such as Blackpool and Newcastle United this season. However, under the leadership of their new Manager Kenny Dalglis, the Reds have shown a good vein of form. Fulham gave Liverpool a run for their money throughout the match at
Anfield, but they failed to create any chances of note. The Cottagers were unlucky as they conceded their goal through John Pantsil’s misplaced clearance inside their own penalty area.
At their seventh place in the Premier League, Liverpool are currently six points behind Tottenham who are currently placed at the fifth spot. The Reds will be hoping that they can at least finish in the top five teams of the Premier League during the 2010-2011
season. The Merseyside giants are also trying to sign two new players in the January transfer window to bolster their ambitions of finishing higher on the table. Luis Suarez of Ajax and Charlie Adams of Blackpool have been mentioned as the two transfer targets
for the Reds so far.
Gerrard said in his latest interview, "We want more than seventh, seventh's not acceptable at this club. If you look where we were a couple of weeks ago, of course we're happy being seventh. But we've got Stoke next and it's important that we keep this run
going and try to get another three points and move up the table even more. We're not happy with seventh."
Speaking about the changes at the club with the arrival of new backroom staff along with Kenny Dalglish, the Liverpool’s Club http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Captain-c8314 further stated, “Training has been slightly different with different coaches coming in with different ideas and different
methods.” Liverpool will be looking to gain all three points against Stoke in their next Premier League encounter, which is scheduled to be played on February 2nd, 2011.
