EPL Super Sunday - Preview: Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool
The second game of Super Sunday will see two big teams, fighting for top four aspirations, go head to head at White Hart Lane. Tottenham are currently sitting sixth on 22 points, only three behind Manchester City who are fourth. The win at Emirates from
2-0 down should be a real catalyst for them and they followed that up with a comfortable win to book their place in last 16 of the Champions League. They'll be a bit tired after their mid-week excursions against Bremen, but if you want to compete at the top
of Premier League then tiredness has to go out the window. Tottenham have one of the strongest squads in Premier League filled with quality Internationals.
Liverpool started their campaign poorly when Roy Hodgson took over reigns in the summer, but are gradually showing signs of recovery with only one defeat since their Merseyside derby loss to Everton in October. Their current run of form has seen them jump
out of the relegation zone and into ninth, only three points behind their opponents, Tottenham.
Liverpool are poor travellers, they have won only once away this season at Bolton. This is a real worry for Roy Hodgson. But their overall record currently stands at one defeat in eight matches in all competitions to mark something of a recovery and build
some renewed confidence going into this game.
Roy Hodgson has praised his counterpart for inspiring Spurs into top four and replacing Liverpool in Europe as one of four English teams. Hodgson knows a win for Liverpool on Sunday will go a long way in wrestling back top four slot. Tottenham have been
a breath of fresh air in Europe this season and a win for them will surely strengthen their title credentials.
Matches between these two usually produce good quality football and lots of goals with only one goal less draw in the last thirteen matches between them. Their two encounters last season saw either side win one match each.  Tottenham won 2-1 at White Hart
Lane and Liverpool won 2-0 at Anfield. In both of those games, Liverpool were awarded a penalty and in total, there were 11 yellow cards.
Team news
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is sidelined with the hamstring strain he pick during England's friendly defeat to France. Joe Cole is on the mends and could feature for Liverpool after his hamstring injury. Cole hasn’t had best of starts for Reds but he
will be looking to give his best against a team who he almost joined last summer.
Jermaine Jenas is out with calf injury, he limped off after 20 minutes during the victory over Bremen. Tom Huddlestone is also unavailable. Van der Vaart has a 50-50 chance of playing after sitting out in midweek. Croatian international Luka Modric is more
than capable of replacing Dutchman as he scored with a fabulous touch against Bremen.
Jermain Defoe can return to Tottenham's starting line-up after he came on during comfortable 3-0 win over German club, Werder Bremen. Michael Dawson resumes training but still requires a couple of weeks before he could gain match fitness.
Meanwhile, Spurs' defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto has agreed a new five-year contract with the club after showing good form this season.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2 Liverpool FC 0
It will only take a brave man to bet against Tottenham, they have form and confidence behind them. It is going to be a comfortable 2-0 win and finish a good week with a bang. To be fair, this prediction says more about Liverpool's woes away from home than
it says about Tottenham.
Man to watch: Gareth Bale
The Welsh wing wizard is in red hot form. Martin Skrtel and Jamie Carragher are not the quickest central defenders in the world and Bale will cause problems for both.
