EPL Transfer Update: Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspurs join race to sign Joleon Lescott
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspurs are reported to be the latest teams to have joined in the race to land Manchester City's want away striker Joleon Lescott. Lescott who joined City from Everton in what was one of the most expensive deals involving a defender
has been nothing more than an extra player with which to warm the bench at the Eastlands. The player has found it close to impossible to find much field time and has often been left out of the team to create space for much younger inexperienced players.
The 28-year-old arrived at the Eastlands in 2009, in a deal that was worth almost 24 million Pounds. However he is still finding it impossible to land a starting role at the team and is now the third choice centre back at the team. More than often the likes
of Dedryck Boyata, who is just coming up in his career has been preferred over the player and he has started to question his sense of belonging at the team. Lescott has been reported to have said that City should allow him to leave the team, if they don't
wish to use him at all. In fact the player has even been rumoured to have had an argument or two with the teams manager Roberto Mancini.
However news of the player feeling like an outcast seems to have made its way all the way to North London as both Tottenham and Chelsea are looking to land the player. Both Chelsea and Tottenham are currently feeling the pressure at the back as their aging
defensive lines seem to have picked up far too many injuries over the course of the season and as a result, the teams have had no one to turn to. This inability of both the teams to have some quality back up defenders has cost them valuable points and they
are looking to put an end to the madness by making a move for Lescott as early as January.
According to most experts if both the teams are to make a move for the player, then the player is more than likely to end up being a Chelsea player with the start of new year. However anything can happen in the transfer window and hence it will be a wait
till January to see how this deal plays itself out.
