EPL Transfer Update: Manchester City complete Edin Dzeko deal
Manchester City have finally competed the deal to bring Edin Dzeko to Eastlands. The striker has signed a lucrative four-and-a-half year contract with the Premier League side, ending months of speculation over his future.
The striker has expressed his delight at the move, telling the club’s official website that playing for Manchester City is a dream come true. He said, “I was always attracted most to joining City. I have been linked with the club for a long time, going back
to last summer, but Wolfsburg did not want to sell me until today. I am pleased to be at such a good club with such big ambition. They were my first choice and only choice.”
Dzeko has been Wolfsburg’s most prolific goalscorer in recent seasons. In 111 appearances for the club, the Bosnian scored a remarkable 66 goals. His contributions led Wolfsburg to their first Bundesliga title in the 2008-09 season. The following season
proved to be even more fruitful, with the striker topping the charts for most goals scored in the league. He is currently the top goalscorer in the history of Wolfsburg.
The Bosnian’s sensational performances made him the target of many big clubs in Europe. However, Manchester City have beaten all of Dzeko’s other suitors to the punch. City have reportedly paid a fee of 27.5 million pounds to bring the highly-rated striker
to Eastlands.
Dzeko is set to make his debut for the club in the home game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wolves-c40952 on Saturday, and he says he can hardly wait.
He said, “I am excited to play alongside players such as Carlos Tevez and Yaya Toure, whom I have only seen on the television, and to be in the same team as players I have played against such as Jerome Boateng and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vincent-Kompany-c36184. I want to show the fans
why the club paid the money for me. Everyone expects goals and I want to score them but most of all I want to contribute to a successful team.”
Now whether Dzeko lives up to the hype or not, only time will tell.
