EPL Transfers: Liverpool signings Roy Hodgson should make in limited Resources - Part 2
3 - Christian Poulsen: Midfielder
Christian Poulsen is another player that continues to spark rumours of a possible transfer at the English Premier League and if he completes the move, he will make a fine specimen at the Reds.
Ironically, Hodgson brought the Danish player at Copenhagen FC a decade ago and then made another attempt to sign him at Fulham but failed. He made a big transfer from Sevilla FC to Juventus in the summers of 2008. However, he wasn’t able to impress with his performances.
The defensive midfielder will replace the Argentinean captain Javier Mascherano. Javier has been linked with his previous manager Rafael Benitez at Inter Milan. He has himself stated that he wants to play at Inter Milan and his transfer seems inevitable.
The 30-year-old Poulsen will prove to be the pivot in the defensive midfield for the Reds. It is expected that the deal will be inked at a good price.
2 - Shaun Wright-Phillips: forward
Shaun Wright Phillips is a player who can reignite his career just like Joe Cole after a demoralizing and diminished performance. After a short period of desire by Manchester City, he is the man on the thin line once again. The Eastlands are removing their claim from him and he seems like a person that could help the Scousers in their time of misery.
The winger has a predicted price of 6 million pounds. Arsenal is also trying to contain the player and have been claiming an increase in their pay. After a glorious campaign, the English Premier League knows that he has the spark and all that is needed is to ignite it.
Hodgson seems like the perfect man to do it as he has already proven that with examples from his term with Fulham making them reach the finals of the Europa Cup.
The Eastlands will definitely lose interest in him, especially after the arrival of David Silva and the inevitable departure of James Milner from Aston Villa to the Citizens.
Wright Phillips is a meticulous dribbler and along with the star-studded attack of Liverpool, he is going to provide the X-factor to the team. The maestro can also be fashioned as a super-sub in the team.
1- Carlton Cole: forward
In the previous season, Liverpool lagged behind all teams and it was mainly because of the injury tragedy to star Spanish striker Fernando Torres. His replacement David N’Gog and Dirk Kuyt just could play at that position. As a matter of fact, no one can. However, Cole has the ability to adjust on all forward positions and because of the teams’ injury problems; he will become the offensive saviour for the Reds.
After the arrival of Serbian Milan Jovanovic, it is possible that Anfield might say it’s goodbyes to N’Gog. The star from West Ham United has made many saves and Hodgson expects that he will do the same this year. The 62-year-old manager is known for his offensive capabilities and the offensive he is lining up this season has amazed all and sundry. The manager has relayed that all teams were in for a great shock this season as Liverpool were going to surprise them with new strategies and game plans.
The 26-year-old player has the ability to score. However, just like Manchester City’s Patrick Vieira, he knows how to assist in the box as well. He started his career from Chelsea but it was West Ham United where the player learnt his football.
Hodgson has low resources in his hand even after selling the predicted players. With a meagre amount and the American owners unfazed by the Chinese business man Kenny Huang, these will be the best signings he can go with at the moment.
