EPL: Youngsters to watch out for in 2011
Now that 2010 has ended, we look at some of the players who are looking to make their mark in 2011.
Bettor.com has come up with 11 players in each position from the English Premier League clubs, who we believe will make a real impact in 2011.
Goal Keeper: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998, 19 (Arsenal)
He has overtaken http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Almunia-c23386 in pecking order at the Emirates. His performance against Manchester United did no harm to his glowing reputation. He looks a confident young goalkeeper. Arsene Wenger, who has been on the lookout for a goalkeeper, might just
wait to see how Szczesny develops in 2011.
Right Back: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809)
The young Englishman has been one of the few positives to come out of Anfield this season. He has shown great maturity whenever called upon and his ability to play both at right back and in the centre of defence will allow him to play more often. He certainly
is one for the future.
Centre Back: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Phil-Jones-c29903, 18 (Blackburn)
The big centre back has all the attributes to be a huge success in the Premier League. He is tall, strong, has good pace and is composed on the ball. He was unfortunate to suffer a knee injury which will keep him out for most part of this campaign. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786
have been linked with the 18-year-old which says a lot about his abilities.
Centre Back: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Smalling, 21 (Manchester United)
The former Fulham man is yet to make a mark but has shown glimpses of his talent. Manchester United signed the youngster from Fulham after only a handful of first-team appearances. His displays, whenever called upon, have seen him move above http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonny-Evans-c19085
in the pecking order. He is widely regarded as the long-term successor of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173 at Old Trafford.
Left Back: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kieran-Gibbs-c20945, 21 (Arsenal)
He has been under the shadow of Gael Clichy for a while now and it is about time he steps up to the challenge and takes over from the Frenchmen. Clichy has been linked with a move away from the Emirates and Wenger will have no hesitance in throwing Gibbs
into the starting line up in case Clichy leaves. He is the future left back not only for Arsenal but for England as well.
Centre Midfield: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-c2929 Hernandez, 20 (Sunderland)
He is yet to convince everyone that he is English national team material. However, at club level, no one needs convincing as the youngster has put up an assured display so far. It is difficult to judge that he is only 20 by the way he plays. He all-action
style will win his critics over and 2011 could be the year he breaks into http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749’s senior side.
Centre Midfield: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463, 18 (Arsenal)
The highly rated midfielder has all the makings to be the next Cesc Fabregas. Many youngsters have emerged from within Arsenal’s ranks but no one has made such an impact. The pressure-free way Wilshere has carried on performing for Arsenal is indeed commendable.
Right Midfield: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marc-Albrighton-c23470, 21 (Aston Villa)
James Milner’s departure left a place vacant in Villa’s midfield and Albrighton made full use of the opportunity. His game awareness is brilliant and he is always running. He has already scored some important goals and if he continues to improve as he has
been doing, then he is definitely a star in the making.
Left Midfield: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gareth-Bale-c14422, 21 (Tottenham Hotspur)
This one might just surprise you. Isn’t he already a star? Yes, but the boy has such immense talent that he can go on to become one of the best in the world. With Spurs improving as a team, if a couple of more talented players arrive at White Hart Lane,
he could soon become a cult hero amongst Spurs’ supporters.
Centre Forward: Andy Carroll, 21 (Newcastle United)
He is big, has pace and can strike the ball with both feet. Andy Carroll has been one of the stars of this season. The Geordie might make a move to one of the top clubs to fulfil his potential but in 2011, he can move only one way and that is upwards.
Centre Forward: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mario-Balotelli-c23937, 20 (Manchester City)
The cocky Italian has a lot of talent. He recently won the Golden Boy award for being the most talented footballer under the age of 21 in Europe. Is he only 2nd to Messi? Not just yet, but he certainly has the ability to be right up there with
the likes of Messi and Ronaldo. The only obstruction is his way is his own attitude, if he sorts that out, then 2011 could well be his year.
