Stoke City
Stoke City Assistant manager, Dave Kemp felt the Potters had their momentum interrupted by injuries against West Ham United on weekend’s 1-1 draw in an away fixture. Having fallen behind to West Ham United’s Scott Parker's first-half opener, the home team
started the second period blazingly and Kenwyne Jones levelled the score. Jones saw a shot tipped onto the woodwork by Robert Green soon after as Stoke City went in pursuit of a winner, but the attacker was then removed from the action.
Jon Walters and Pennant were also replaced and the match finished level, with Dave Kemp revealing afterwards that all three changes had been forced. "We started very slowly and we are disappointed with the way we played in the first half", said Kemp. The
Assistant manager admired the way his team made an impressive come back in the second half. He said that Potters played much better in the second and had some chances that hit the pole but he was more concerned about the injuries.
Moreover, Kemp claimed that every time Potters try to play offensive football, a forward is always injured. That’s why he opted to substitute the goal scorer Jones. He also said that he was quite disappointed his side lost two crucial points. Kemp also described
the type of the injuries that Potters suffered and was unaware of the time period the players will be kept out. Kenwyne Jones sustained a groin injury. Jermaine is dealing with hamstring and Jon Walters has suffered an ankle injury.
Sunderland
The English Striker, Darren Bent is manoeuvring the demise of more of the Barclays English Premier League big clubs after having his own say in the title race once again. Three weeks after his last-minute penalty sentenced Manchester City to defeat on Wearside,
the superstar attacker of the Sunderland struck five minutes into injury time to deny 10-man Arsenal conquest at the Stadium of Light.
The 26-year-old striker said: "We have got Liverpool and Manchester United coming up, so I don't really want to say too much. But we always seem to raise our game for these big boys and always put on a performance, and we have to do that in every game now”.
He also admired the way his team performed against the one of the toughest side of Barclays Premier League, Manchester City. He added that his all team members put in all efforts and claimed victory and three crucial points. Bent also said that big games against
Manchester United and Chelsea are coming up and Sunderland is well prepared to face them.
Tottenham Hotspurs
The well-known Tottenham striker, Bobby Smith has expired at the age of 77, following a short illness. Smith scored 208 goals in 317 senior matches for Tottenham Hotspurs and was an integral member of the team, which won the double in the 1960/61 season.
He also had spells at Chelsea and Brighton. "It is with great regret that we announce the death of Bobby Smith, our legendary centre-forward from our great double-winning side of 1960-61", read a statement on Tottenham's official website. "Bobby died at an
Enfield hospital yesterday evening [Saturday] following a short illness. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Bobby Smith at this very sad time".
Bobby Smith started his illustrious career as a youth player at Chelsea and turned professional in 1950. He was transferred to Spurs in December 1955 and played an important role in the Spurs’ winning campaign. He scored 33 goals in the club's double-winning
season and picked up winner's medals in the 1962 FA Cup final and the 1963 European Cup Winners' Cup. Smith was also very inspiring at the international level, scoring 13 times in 15 appearances for England.
