Arsenal looked like they could score every time they go forward, but they are only winning 1-0. Samir Nasri played a quick fire one-two with Cesc Fabregas and took the return, slotting just over Rob Green's bar from an angle on
the left. If the Hammers can hold Arsenal 1-0 at half-time, they've got a chance to get something out of this game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Bridge-c36733 was having a shocking debut so far as he played Robin van Persie on side down the Gunners left - Van Persie's cross Tangled Bridge and Theo Walcott took advantage of his hesitancy to nip in and thunder a left-foot
shot into the roof of the net to put Arsenal 0-2 ahead on the night.
It was an amazing moment for Arsenal as Freddie Sears curled in a perfect cross from the Hammers right and Charlton Cole got there first, but Cole's contact was poor and his header flicked off Johan Djourou and flew behind for
a corner.
Arsenal went for the kill and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Johan-Djourou-c18779, who was denied a goal for the Gunners by brave and excellent keeping from Rob Green, who was off his line as quick as a flash. He needed some treatment, but
he was okay to continue.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theo-Walcott-c34873 and Jack Wilshere created some space to get the ball to Robin van Persie inside the West Ham box on the right and at a very tight angle he thumped in a shot that Rob Green parried behind.
Arsenal were playing it coolly and calmly, just knocking the ball around like a training game. Gael Clichy over-hit one cross, before Robin van Persie hammered a right-foot shot that flew slightly over Rob Green's bar.
It was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jack-Wilshere-c17463; referee awarded a Free-kick from about 23 yards out, Robin van Persie's subsequent effort slammed into Matthew Upson in the West Ham wall and flew behind for a
corner.
West Ham finally got rub of green but failed to take advantage. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wojciech-Szczesny-c36998 off guard but he somehow managed to tip it behind for a corner.
Avram Grant has one more sub to make, but it won't matter - West Ham hardly got anything out of this game. Avram Grants short reign in charge at Upton Park ends with the West Ham Slugging it out at bottom of the table.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 winger cannot quite direct it on target. Arsenal have played some cracking stuff and their title challenge, as with
Man City, is very much alive.
Man of the Match Robin van Persie said after the game:
"It was a very good win because we know how difficult a place this is to come. At half-time we told each other we did not want what happened last year to happen again. I think West Ham are lower than their qualities suggest."
Arsenal are up to third in the Premier League, two points behind Man City with a game in hand. They play Leeds at Elland Road in an FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday, followed by Wigan at home in the league next Saturday.
West Ham, presumably with a new manager, travel to Everton at Goodison Park a week today.
Final Score: West Ham 0 Arsenal 2
