EPL round up: Liverpool and Manchester City
Liverpool
Liverpool full back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martin-Kelly-c24395 has ruled himself out of England’s upcoming Under-21 match against Italy.
He is in good form in the on-going 2010-11 season and has all the makings of becoming the next right back for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749. Kelly was extremely impressive in the recent win over Chelsea and played the entire match with a lot of passion and commitment.
He is yet to receive a Three Lions call-up but has chosen to remain patient and keep performing for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. The right back has settled very nicely into Liverpool’s new 3-5-1-1 formation, where he plays as a wing back. The 21-year-old has the dual responsibilities
of attacking as well as defending on the right hand side and has so far managed those responsibilities to perfection.
Manchester City
Manchester City’s veteran midfielder Shaun Wright-Philips is tipped to fill the boots of the now injured Adam Johnson. The England international suffered an ankle issue while training for City and is likely to remain out of action for the remainder of the
2010-11 season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shaun-Wright-Phillips-c33277 is now expected to prove his worth to the side and was lively in his off the bench appearance against West Bromwich Albion recently. City won the match 3-0, thanks to a remarkable hat-trick from skipper Carlos Tevez on his 27th
birthday.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adam-Johnson-c3537. The player was all
set to leave the outfit in the January 2011 transfer window but nothing could be materialised.
“What we had prior to January was a squad, when all fit, of 24 or 25 players and Shauny found himself out of it a few times. It did not work out for him in terms of moving away but he is a consummate pro,” stated first team coach David Platt.
“He has trained exceptionally well as he has done all season. He gives you a lot of pace and attacking ability. We are not stupid enough not to realise he might be important to us between now and the end of the season,” added the coach.
Manchester City head into a tough fixture on the weekend, as they face archrivals and neighbours Manchester United at Old Trafford. Last time these two sides met was in November 2010 and there was nothing to choose between the sides.
However, with both teams looking to down each other, an attacking formation can be expected from both the managers.
