EPL round up: Manchester City and Newcastle United
Manchester City
Championship side Leeds United have confirmed the signing of Manchester City shot-stopper David http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gonzalez-c15099 on a six-month loan term for the remainder of the 2010-11 season. The Columbian goalkeeper signed for City in 2009 and possesses a lot of experience
owing to his stints in South http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390, Africa and Europe.
The manager of the club, Simon Grayson, was delighted to add the Columbian to the squad, stating that the player has a lot of experience after playing all around the world.
“He's someone we've watched a few times and we feel he's a player who can push Kasper (Schmeichel) and Shane (Higgs). We're delighted Man City have let him come and delighted to have that extra competition,” stated the Leeds manager.
Newcastle United
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew expects club boss Mike Ashley to splash the cash in the 2011 summer transfer window in order to find a suitable replacement for the now-departed Andy Carroll.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 paid 35 million pounds for the 22-year-old striker and the manager expects the owner to give him the entire transfer fee received for Carroll to bolster the Magpies squad in the summer.
Pardew, who joined Newcastle in November 2010, still has to survive the Premier League without the services of his lead scorer Andy Carroll. The manager is now determined to tone down the anger of fans and supporters over selling off Carroll, saying that
the money from the Carroll transfer would be spent on bringing in players in the summer.
“The one thing I said to Mike on Monday was, 'Look, if this boy is going to go, this money has to be reinvested in the team, all of it', and he has assured me of that. For the Newcastle fan, that is the most important message I can give, that all that money
will be used,” assured the Newcastle United manager.
Carroll has been out of action for nearly a month and a half and the Magpies have fared pretty well without him. They are currently 12th in the Premier League and have every chance of surviving in the top flight. However, no new striker was signed
to replace Carroll, whose 11 goals are the major reason behind Newcastle’s impressive start to the 2010-11 season.
