EPL transfer news: Chelsea double efforts to sign Fernando Torres
Chelsea have literally doubled their efforts to sign Liverpool striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707.
The English champions have increased their bid to 60 million pounds now. The new sum is twice the amount Chelsea offered initially, proving that they will spare no expense to bring the World Cup winner to Stamford Bridge.
The Blues launched an audacious bid for Torres recently, offering Liverpool 30 million pounds for the striker’s services. The initial bid was swiftly turned down by the Reds, who claimed that the Spaniard was not for sale, regardless of how much money http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786
are willing to offer. However, with a whopping 60-million-pound bid on the table, the Reds might just be forced to reconsider their stance.
Torres is certainly taking the bid very seriously. The striker handed in a written transfer request earlier, announcing that he would like to leave Liverpool in the January 2011 transfer window. If the Spaniard has his heart set away from Anfield, his performances
for the Reds will start to suffer. Perhaps Torres’ own willingness to join the English champions might just force Kenny Dalglish to let his star striker go.
Since joining Liverpool back in the summer of 2007, Torres has quickly established himself as one of the deadliest strikers in the Premier League. The Spaniard has scored 61 goals in 101 appearances for the Reds, with an average of one goal in every two
games. Torres has had a slow start to the 2010-11 campaign, but the striker is now starting to get back amongst the goals once again.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has proved that money is no object when it comes to securing Torres’ services. However, to sweeten the deal even further, the Blues have offered http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 striker Daniel
Sturridge. It remains to be seen whether Liverpool take the bait.
However, time is swiftly running out for both parties. The transfer window closes very soon, and it seems unlikely that a deal can be finalised. We will find out more on the Torres transfer saga in the coming days.
