Question:

EQ to use with Bose 901s Series IV?

Hola, I have a pair of Bose 901s that I picked up last week, they dont have the EQ and I wanted to see if there was an alternative that I could use, not trying to spend a ton of loot. Or should I purchase the EQ that it was made for. please advise.

  1. Definitely go for the Bose made EQ, and if you go on eBay, you should find one for a very reasonable price.  In relative terms, the Bose EQ is not at all expensive, and on the used market, I would be surprised if it cost you more than $100.


  2. If you look around online there is some info on the Bose 901 EQ curve.  It is a pretty radical curve.  You can try to duplicate it with another "off the shelf" EQ but it may be difficult.

    What you really need is a parametric EQ that gives you a lot of choice on your parameters.  You may need to experiment.
