Question:

ESPN: Better now or then?

Do you think ESPN has better coverage of NASCAR in 2008...or was it better when they had it in the 80s and 90s?

Personally, I loved the commentary they had in the 90s and it just seemed more fun to watch it on ESPN...now I think they need new commentators. The best thing about their coverage now to me is that they have the ticker going across the screen, but it was more fun to watch in the 90s to me.

  1. I agree. I liked it better in the early/mid nineties.  Maybe it was better then or maybe I've just gotten older and more jaded. But I definitly got more excited for the broadcasts back then.

  2. Definetly back then, in my opinion, TNT is way better then ESPN today, I wish Bob Jenkins was play by play and Jerry Punch was still in the pits

  3. ESPN Sucks! I Punch Some Young Big Mouth From ESPN One Time! Jamie Little Is Just Plain Stupid! She Asks Question's Like You Finished 35Th Are You Going To Try Something New Next Race! Duh! No Jamie I am Going To Stick With Finishing 35Th! Well That What Tony Told Her Any Ways!

Can Not Stand Her! ESPN Blow My Left Ball!

  4. I agree with you I think it was better in the 90's than it is now!!

  5. Yeah, it was better then.  It seems everytime they "improve" it, it gets worse!

    Go Jr.>>>>

  6. The 90s was the best. I still think the team of Bob Jenkins, Benny Parsons and Ned Jarrett were the best team to ever call a race. There was humor, but not to the extent that Waltrip does. They also never bored you to death like Bill Weber does.

  7. Back then for sure. I watched the 1995 race from Sonoma on ESPN classics today and it rocked. Bob Jenkins, Benny Parsons(RIP) and Ned Jarrett put a shame to all the Nascar announcers now. BTW, during this race Ned Jarrett was calling the race from one of the turns on the course. Classic!

  8. My guy is Morgan Shepherd and he was better in the early 90s. So I enjoyed watching him on ESPN back then but I could be biased since he was better back than. Either way Nascar just felt more family related and made me feel closer to the sport in the 90s and Nascar reinforced that feeling. Now it is a bunch of corporate stuff. I agree with the one that said Jenkins should be the main guy and Jerry Punch in the pits, they were a great duo

  9. I started watching NASCAR in 2001 so I missed the coverage then. It sounds like I really missed out. I should have started watching sooner.

  10. I am biased....but I like the 90's because that is when d**k Trickle was racing.
