ESPN and CANAL+ Events to deliver live Winter X Games Europe action in March
The leading sports network ESPN and France’s pay TV broadcaster CANAL+ Events will be teaming up to host and broadcast the latest edition of the much-anticipated Winter X Games Europe that will be making its return to Tignes, France, this March.
The world class X Games franchise of ESPN, proficiency of the leading French pay TV broadcaster and expertise of Tignes Ski and Snowboard resort in the French Alps is expected to serve as a key interface between the action-packed Winter X Games events and the action sports fans.
2012 will feature the third iteration of one of the most popular winter action sports mega-event in Europe. Winter X Games Europe has served as a platform for some of the most memorable performances by unarguably some of the most exciting athletes from around the globe.
The upcoming European version of Winter X Games is scheduled to go down at Tignes Ski and Snowboard resort in the French Alps from March 14-16. 150 world-class athletes from around the world will be travelling to Tignes to battle it out for the coveted gold medals in Snowboard and Skiing events.
The Snowboard events will include men’s and women’s Snowboard SuperPipe, men’s and women’s Snowboard Slopestyle, men’s and women’s Ski SuperPipe, men’s Ski Slopestyle and men’s Snowmobile demonstrations.
The champions from last year’s Winter X Games Europe are all expected to return this year to defend their titles. The list includes Britain’s Jenny Jones who showcased exceptional skills during the women’s Snowboard Slopestyle contest to walk away with the gold medal. Women’s Snowboard SuperPipe Gold Medallist Gretchen Bleiler and Women’s Ski SuperPipe Gold Medallist Sarah Burke from Canada will also be heading to France in March to hold on to their position on the throne.
The upcoming iteration of Winter X Games Europe will also be bringing back the male stars of winter action sports, which include Men’s Ski SuperPipe Gold Medallist Kevin Rolland from France and the Swiss snowboarding sensation Iouri Podladtchikov who took home the gold medal after prevailing in men’s Snowboard SuperPipe contest.
Thanks to ESPN and CANAL+ Events, the action sports fans will have the option to enjoy the adrenaline-pumping action live from their homes if they are not able to visit Tignes.
