  1. UK is not a member of the EU

  2. The U.K. is part of the European Union (EU) however they and Ireland control their immigration apart from the remainder of the EU. Most EU members are already part of the Schengen Zone, and many of the newer member states such as Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic will join the zone in the upcoming year. As a U.S. citizen you can travel to the U.K. for up to a 6 month visit, and the EU for a 3 month visit. No visa is required if strictly for tourism and/or business.

  3. Depends on the visa conditions!

  4. Depends on the visa if you get a "schengen visa" than you can travel into any of the participating countries who have signed to an agreement of the same name but UK is not in that group so you wopuld probably need a double or multiple entry visa for UK and than you can do that

  5. The UK is a member of the EU; it is not a member of Schengen.  Anyway, US citizens can enter nearly all EU and Schengen countries without a visa no matter where their travel originated from.  Look them up here:

  6. you can visit the UK up to 6 months without a visa

you want to visit the UK for no more than six months

as for the others schengen countries? you do not need a visa .

:Unless otherwise specified next to the country name, people holding a valid passport from one of the following countries (click here to view the list) do not require a visa to visit Metropolitan France including Monaco or any of the French Overseas Departments for a maximum stay of 90 DAYS.
