EU richer than US??

if the GNP for the EU is - $15.7 trillion

The USA'a GNP being- $12.9trillion

why is the US so much more a political and economic superpower then the EU? uniformity? unity?

Every kind of comparison of actual income has to be balanced against the benefits. It doesn't matter whether someone earns more money, because of the spendings on health-care, retirement, unemployment, holiday, quality of life etc. The real income is (salary - spendings = real salary); That's the real salary!
