  1. The stars represent the 12 original countries which made up the EU.  No they haven't added anymore stars since new countries have joined.

  2. The 12 stars represent perfection - they are nothing to do with the number of countries, or the original number of countries (there were only 6 when the EEC was first set up anyway). The flag was originally designed for the Council of Europe, not the EEC/EU anyway, which has far more members than the EU does.

  3. the number of 12 stars has been fixed and will not change.

At the moment EU has 27 members, though it should get rid of some like UK or poland.

  4. Who gives a toss a the flag means nothing to me and if the stars and circle represent perfection then they need to change the flag to moons and a square. The flag means nothing to those who dont recognise it.

  5. Yes to all

  6. From the EU web page.

It is often thought to relate to the original number of members but this is coincidental.

  7. circle of twelve gold stars on a blue background. In various traditions, twelve is a symbolic number representing perfection. It is also, of course, the number of months in a year and the number of hours shown on a clock face. The circle is, among other things, a symbol of unity. So the European flag was born, representing the ideal of unity among the peoples of Europe.

  8. f**k knows. i for one do not and never will recognise it. might wipe my *** with it every now and then though
