EVERYONE answer please!!!!!?????

ive asked this three times and im asking again because i still havent found what i want!

how do i get my mom to get me another rat? (i got the first one because it was a feeder to the snake but he didnt get eaten, and my mom didnt plan to have it as a pet but now he is our pet jerry!) i explained to her that rats need to be in at least pairs but she doesnt care! she thinks that its "just a gross rat!" and it doesnt NEED a friend! she wont read any articles or anything and she gets mad at me when i ask to read one! my b-day is coming up and im hoping to get one then. Jerry is old (3 yrs) so i might want to wait get two when he dies. but she told me once he dies no more rats! i want to go to college to be a small animal vet possibly be a rat breeder, and i told her that if i want to be a vet or breeder, sooner or later she will have to let me buy some rats for expeirience and i think that loosened her up a bit! but still she says "NO RATS".how do i get her to get me a rat?

mom there not gross! they are one of the best pets to have....and i think the rat i have now ( jerry ) will live longer!

Give her a mature speech. Answer all of her questions or issues she has in a mature way. Do not get mad if she says no, keep your cool. This worked for my and now i have a hamster!

You should find out about all the information on your type of rat including the sicknesses. Tell her that you will be responsible enough to keep it! Show her that you are responsible by caring for your current rat! If not a rat, im sure your mom would approve a hamster!

Read her this artical out loud to her. If nothing else works, find jerry a better home with some1 who can get him a friend. It may be hard, but it really is best for him.=(

ok this may sound crazy, but maybe you should have your mother spend some time with the rat.  then i believe she would understand just how good  they are. i had the same problem and now my mother just adores rats.  if you really cant get another rat, spend lots of time with jerry

I think you should go about it the same way as you got Jerry. Just say that you heard somewhere that they need to get the scent of the rat or something. I really recommend that you do it when ur parents are ok with it. I would suggest printing out almost every bit of info about the rats and make them read it. then start helping out around the house with EVERYTHING that needs done. do dishes, take out the garbage, clean ur room, the living room, anywhere else like that and maybe vacuum out the car even. I worked hard and my mom finally let me get my gerbils. even though she didn't like the idea, she knew I really wanted them. work on them that way first, then if that doesnt work, try the "he'll eat it this time!!!".

first off hun, how old are you? if under 18 then you can't do much as it's our parent's house. if over 18 technically you could get more, though you might face getting kicked out. hey, it does happen. if you're forced to wait until you leave for college then so be it. plus, you'll be busy enough with school that breeding rats won't be first on your mind. just be prepared. parents rules and what they are. we cannot force them to change their mind. not what you want to hear, but it's the truth

add- but yes, be mature about it. if she says no then she does. my parents aren't fond of them, my mom least of all, but if i keep them clean and they don't smell they have no issues. i pay for all of them and everything they need. i don't rely on my parents to buy anything for my animals.

Well, I would say ease it on to her. Don't go strait forward sayin' "mom, I WANT A RAT!" You should like go in and say, Mom, doesn't this look cute? And show her a picture of like a hooded rat or somthing. (MAKE SURE IT'S SMALL) ladies may think ewwww look a huge rat! And well make it EASE on to her and finaly when you have been doing this for a week say, "Mom, did you know that rats are supposed to be the most intellegent rodent? They are compared to dogs! I think we should get two" If she still says no say, "But my birthday is coming!"

cool im going to go to collage and be a smal animals vet, like u, maybe we will meet one day. you should just get a rat around jerrys age, or an adult maybe a 1 1/2 if u can find one, but tellher all you want her to do is drive you to the pet store/spca and wait 3 minutes while you run in and buy another rat, you take care of them not her, if i was your mm i'd agree with that!
