Question:

EVPs: Why can they hear us if we can't hear them?

Ghosthunters record EVPs because supposedly we can't hear ghosts with our own ears, so we have to electronically record them instead. If that's the case, then why do ghost hunters collect EVPs by going around and talking to ghosts? Why would ghosts be able to hear us if we can't hear them?

  1. In general, EVP's are recorded both at frequencies and volume levels which are outside the normal range of human hearing.

It's not known how it works, merely that it does. It's a bit like gravity in that respect: lots of good theory and practice, but nothing in the way of specifics that give a solid explanation as to why.

Gravity is thus a theory. EVP is, too.

  2. I thought it was the Law of Gravity.

Please stop trying to apply your ridiculous logic to a paranormal matter you should know it doesn't work like that!

  3. To me it would make sense that they are in a spiritual realm and the laws of science are most likely different than in our earthly bodies.

Even on earth among animals have different range of hearing.

Take a dog. they hear very high pitched sounds. And we don't.

A Bat hears by vibrations that bounce off of objects.

It makes sense that paranormal spirits would be on a totally different wave length. There is a veil that separates us from the spiritual world and we have little knowledge of what sort of way they experience their spiritual life.

  4. If someone had the answer to that then I guess it would not be paranormal in nature, and since EVP is, I don't see anyone answering that for sure any time soon.  I do like the answer about different sound frequencies.  All I know is they are there.

  5. You are asking inconvenient questions  :)  The answer is that nobody really knows, and that's because nothing is actually known about ghosts in a scientific sense, or even that ghosts exist in the first place. Without a scientific framework from which to formulate and test hypotheses, you can't create any theories (scientific theories) about EVPs or build any scientific knowledge. As far as EVPs go, they all seem to be recorded with such uncontrolled methods that this alone casts doubt on them, not to mention that the vast majority are indiscernible noise that are interpreted with subjective pattern-matching (pareidolia).

So, in summary, with no scientific basis on which to formulate our answers, there can only be personal conjectures about EVPs.

  6. No such thing as "ghosts"

  7. I don't know...but I want to say thank you for asking an interesting question. Wish I'd thought of that one first!  I don't think you ALWAYS have to have an EVP to hear spirits. Have you never heard someone call your name out when no one was around? I'm sure if it happened to you you'd call it a brain thing...but I think it's spirits. I had one call my name loudly one time when I overslept. Of course I realize now it could have been someone on earth astral traveling...or doing remote viewing and seeing I was going to be late and using ESP or something to call my name. At the time, I didn't know about those possibilities.  I didn't make a big deal out of it. I thought it was kind of funny..but then I was used to weird things happening during those years. After awhile "weird" becomes "normal".  (Please try to control yourself and not reply with one of your "normal" comments. lol) My concept of you just went up a half a notch for asking this question. Thanks.

  8. That isn't completely true.  Once in a great while a voice is audible when it is being recorded.    It has happened twice while I was involved in an investigation.   We all heard the voice and all recorded it at the same time, the voice of what sounded like a small child.  It was in the middle of the night in an abandoned building, there were no children in the area.
