EXCEL 2007: FILTER DATA?

I need to filter my data with two criteria:

First by the newest date and then by name.

Name Date

Jane 8-25-08

Jane 10-25-08

Joe 9-25-08

Joe 12-25-08

The result will be:

Name Date

Jane 10-25-08

Joe 12-25-08

Please help me in this report.

  1. Your data in column A-B with headings. In cell C2 type =IF(EXACT(A2,A3),"","MaxDate"). Copy down to end of list. Custom sort list by column A then column B ascending. Filter list by column C - MaxDate. List is now how you require. HTH
