Question:

EXPENSIVE LAUNDRY METHODS??

I have a ton of expensive polos in almost every color. Most of these polos are extremely bright and heavily colored. After washing them for a while, I notice that the colors fade. I must be doing something wrong, because these are designer brand clothes with very high quality fabrics.

I recently bought a Burberry white polo. The tag says it cannot be bleached. Ouch headache!!! I wash all of my cloth together with bleach!!! I don't know how to wash it now and not destroy it or dye it in another color. I cannot take any chances.

Please don't suggest vinegar. I wash all my clothes in a single load because it costs 1 dollar per load. Please tell me how to separate and wash whites with color.

Thank you

  1. Baking soda helps the detergent work better and helps reduce stress on the fabric in the wash.  Never use bleach.

Since you brought it up, vinegar during the RINSE cycle (when you would add softener) helps to remove additional impurities that the baking soda can't remove.  I don't add vinegar often, but it will not harm your fabrics or machine.

If you really want to treat the polos gently, hand wash them in your bathtub.

  2. you can bleach any thing thats white, but the colored stuff, light colors in warm water w/ a little ammonia , and dark clothes wash in cold water and color-safe bleach

  3. You can bleach the white polo... if it's all white.  that tag goes in all the colors but doesn't apply to the white.

As for the other colors, wash similar colored items together, in cold water.  Add vinegar to the rinse cycle (1 cup.)

  4. ~~You should not be using bleach to wash your clothes in. It is hard on the material and that is probably why your colors are fading. There is no way to wash white and colors together. You can put some whites with very light beiges and yellows, etc., but nothing keeps them whiter than washing whites alone. On whites don't use bleach-use hydrogen peroxide, if you must. Most clothes like you are describing are just worn casually and don't get very dirty. When you wash them, put them on the lightest agitation you need to use to get them clean, turn them inside out and stop using bleach. Your colors will last! Always use cold water only. Hope his helps.~~

  5. This question makes no sense.  If you're buying expensive polos, you can surely afford the laundry expense.  And if you bought a Burberry, you could freaking buy a washer!
