  1. you will need to find the area of the flag to know how much material you need for each flag. Area = 1.2yd x .5yd=.6yd squared.

    so, .6x X $1.75=your amount

    .6(20) X 1.75=$21

    i hope that is right.

  2. letting x = the number of flags, and C = the total cost, the function relating them is as follows:

    C(x) = (1.75)(1.2)(0.5)x

    or simply:

    C(x) = 1.05x

    for 20 flags:

    C(20) = 1.05(20) = $21

    that's it! ;)

  3. the cost of 1 flag is:

    1.2 × 0.5 = 0.6 square yards (you should know without calculator)

    0.6 × $1.75 = $1.05 per flag.

    so if C is the cost and F is the amount of flags, the function is:

    C=1.05×F

    done

    If you make 20 flags that means F = 20

    So if we fill that in we get:

    C=1.05×20

    C=21

    done
