Ok, So here it is, I have a 94 Eagle Talon, I love the car by the way, and it runs very well, But the only problem I have with it right now, is it smokes right at start up, but when it gets running, it ceases..and no more smoke....The smoke is heavy at first, My friend said something along the lines of oil leaking into the....Pistons? I cant remember, but when I start it up, it burns it all off...But its becoming pretty heavy, Is this really serious...or not really...?

  1. You have classic signs of bad valve stem seals. as the car sits overnight oil seeps into the cylinders. when you start it the oil is burned off, and is fine until it sits for a while. The fix is reasonably straight forward, a skilled technician can fix in about 5 hours.

  2. if your sure it is oil burning then you might have valves that are leaking and leaving oil on top of the pistons or you have bad piston rings, does the car have a lot of miles on it.if you have never had a valve adjustment then i suggest having that done that might take care of the problem.have a auto tech look at the car they could tell you the problem with your car,be prepared it could cost you alot of money to have fixed. you could also have a bad head gasket and its allowing a little coolent into the cylinders and that could need replacing.good luck

  3. take a paper towel and wipe the exhaust pipe, before starting and after.

if it is oil, which could be just valves, doesn't sound bad. if watery, and not smoking no more, could be condensation from sitting do weather.

look at it this way, if its oil, you know the top end is lubed when starting up.

  4. what color is the smoke and no its not serious money it would cost to fix it is more than car is worth
