Eagles' quarterback Michael Vick misses practice, still hopeful against Jets – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who marked his return last week after missing three straight games owing to broken ribs, is still sore and missed the practice session on Wednesday. However, Coach Andy Reid believes
that the quarterback will be able to start the week-15 game against New York Jets. A day earlier, Vick himself had said that he was ready to face the Jets.
Vick attended the walkthrough on Wednesday morning, but did not take part in the practice session that was scheduled for the afternoon.
He made a comeback last week against Miami Dolphins and got a victory for his team that still have a chance to make it to the playoff via a wildcard. During the game, he took a few hits, which might have forced him to miss the
practice.
"He was a little tender from the game (but) not as bad as before," Reid said. "He was throwing the ball out there."
This season, Vick has played 10 games in which he has completed 196 passes of 330 attempts for 2,401 yards. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and holds a quarterback rating of 78.9.
After the Jets, the Eagles are going to face Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins in week 16 and 17 respectively.
Vick is well aware of the complicated state his team is in at the moment. One more loss can close the playoff doors for the Eagles, and that’s why they need their key players to be hundred per cent fit. He said earlier that his
target is to win the rest of the games for the Eagles.
“We’re just fighting to stay alive. We need to take it one game at a time and control the things that we can control, which is us winning our final three games. That starts Sunday against the Jets.”
Meanwhile, Jets Coach Rex Ryan has cautioned his players against Vick. Ryan appreciated Vick and said that the skilful quarterback is capable of making strong plays.
"There is only one Michael Vick in this league, a dynamic playmaker, can make all the throws, strong arm and the way he can move is second to nobody," Ryan said.
