Eagles’ Coach Andy Reid takes responsibility of defeat against Patriots – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles’ coach Andy Reid has taken complete responsibility of the loss against New England Patriots 38-20 in the week 12 encounter of the National Football League played at the Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday.
Eagles got an early lead in the first quarter against Patriots, and a touchdown followed by a field goal gave them a 10-0 lead. However, the defence did not prevent the opponents from scoring and the lead was soon taken away.
The coach admitted that Patriots were better than his team during the day and said that the team’s defence needs improvement.
"Obviously the Patriots were a better team today than we were," he said. "You obviously can't have that many penalties and turnovers when you're playing a good football team. It's my responsibility and I have to make sure that
I take care of it."
Defensively, Eagles have an average of 344.6 yards (234.4 passing yards and 110.3 rushing yards) per game. The team’s offense is much better and is ranked third in the league with an average of 420.1 (260.7 passing yards and 159.4
rushing yards) yards per game.
This was the seventh loss of the season for Eagles. They have won only four games this season and are ranked third in the National Football Conference East division.
During the recent loss against Patriots, fans were so disappointed and annoyed that they called for removing the coach and yelled ‘fire Andy’.
With New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys fighting for the top spot in the division, there are very few chances for Eagles to beat both of them and enter the playoffs. Still, the coach is hopeful and wants his men to keep on fighting
for entry into the next stage.
"None of us can predict the future and how things will go," he said. "There are a lot of different variables there, so you keep fighting. That's what you do."
Meanwhile, quarterback Vince Young, who made another start for Eagles due to the absence of injured Michael Vick, supported his coach saying that all the blame cannot be put only on Andy Reid.
