Eagles DeSean Jackson and Vince Young displeased with performance – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson and quarterback Vince Young are unhappy with the performance their team displayed against New England Patriots on Sunday. The loss has almost faded away the Eagles’ hopes of entering the playoffs now.
Wide receiver DeSean Jackson did not have a good game and was benched by coach Andy Reid in the second half on the game. The reason for sidelining him was his inability to receive the passes properly. He dropped two touchdown passes and recorded a total of 73 yards for four receives.
When the coach was asked about the reason for benching Jackson, he simply responded by saying that he wanted to give other players an opportunity.
Jackson himself admitted that he did not play well during the game, but maintained that he has a potential for playing much better game.
"Things happen sometimes," he said. "As a player, honestly, you're upset when you drop passes like I did tonight. Sometimes you have a bad game, and tonight definitely wasn't my best game. There were a couple of plays I thought I should have made, but didn't. I know I'm a better receiver than that."
On the other hand, Vince young who has replaced injured quarterback Michael Vick did perform relatively well, but was annoyed because the result did not bring his team any glory.
Young completed 26 of 48 attempted passes for 400 yards and managed a touchdown and an interception. During his post-game press conference, he felt satisfied with his performance and said that the coaches and players were upset about the loss. He urged them to stay positive and focus on next game.
Talking to the press, Young said that the Eagles desperately wanted to win the game and that the loss had left a bad taste. However, he said that the failure should now be forgotten and the team should move on.
Eagles are going to take on Seattle Seahawks on Thursday in the week 13 encounter of the National Football League current season.
