Eagles’ Michael Vick and Nnamdi Asomugha doubtful against New England Patriots – NFL News
An official word about Philadelphia Eagles’ cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha’s injury came on Friday when Coach Andy Reid announced that the damage was not as severe as it seemed initially. However, Asomugha’s participation in the week
12 game of the National Football League current season against New England Patriots on Sunday at the Lincoln Financial Filed is still doubtful.
During the practice session on Thursday, Nnamdi hurt his left knee and his first reaction after receiving the injury suggested that he would miss the game on Sunday.
The management did not present any official version immediately and the team’s spokesperson said that the update on the matter would be give on Friday.
The 30-year-old cornerback started his professional career in 2003 with Oakland Raiders. He joined Eagles in the year 2011 and has started all the 10 games this season, managing three interceptions and 24 tackles.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, the coach said that the player was doing well and he might be available against Patriots, but no confirmation was given.
"He's going to continue to try to rehab it and get himself ready for the game," Reid said.
“We haven't asked him to run on it. He feels pretty good. ... He's doing OK," the coach added.
Meanwhile, Eagles received another blow when it was informed that their regular quarterback Michael Vick is still recovering from rib injury and might not be able to make it to the final line-up at the Lincoln Financial Field this
weekend.
During the week 10 game against Arizona Cardinals, Vick got two of his ribs broken. He missed the practice sessions in the following week and did not play against New York Giants in the week 11. Now there are doubts that he might
miss his second straight game.
In the absence of Vick, Vince Young started as quarterback and performed well to lead his team to a victory against Giants. Young is expected to start again if Vick stays injured.
Eagles are in a must-win situation, and one more defeat can hurt their chances of entering the playoffs. At the moment, they are ranked third in the National Football Conference East with four victories and six defeats.
