Eagles’ Michael Vick doubtful against Giants, misses practice – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback Michael Vick missed the practice session on Wednesday raising doubts on his participation in the week 11 game against New York Giants in the National Football League current season.
Eagles faced Arizona Cardinals in the week 10 game of the NFL. They not only lost the match 21-17, but their key players including Vick, who has two broken ribs.
Against Cardinals, Vick played most part of the game and completed 16 passes for 128 yards managing two interceptions. At the end of the game, he said that the injury was not bothering him and that was why he continued to play
the game.
“Maybe it was selfish to stay out there but it wasn’t affecting me. Just compounding hits started to take a toll on me. I’ve got to start to realize maybe I can’t do it all sometimes," he said.
However, the developments after the Sunday’s game suited neither Eagles nor Vick. His absence from the practice session has raised questions about his participation against Giants that are in top form with six victories and three
defeats in the season and are leading the National Football Conference East division.
On the other hand, desperate to improve their record, Eagles have only three wins to their credit and have suffered six defeats so far. They are ranked third in the NFC East division.
Vick’s injury has come as a blow for Eagles, but coach Andy Reid thinks that it is still too early to speculate whether the quarterback will play against Giants. He said that the player could still recover and that the final decision
about his participation would be made later in the week.
The 31-year-old quarterback joined Eagles in the year 2009. Before coming to this franchise, he spent a few years with Atlanta Falcons where he had started his professional career. He has played nine games this season and has 11
touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
It is expected that Vince Young or Mike Kafka could get an opportunity to start the game if Vick is left out for the next game. After the Wednesday’s practice session, Young said that he was ready to make his first start.
"It's been tough not playing and things like that," he said. "I've been behind the scenes, studying the plays and seeing the plays. Each week, from studying, I'm getting better each day.”
