Eagles’ backup quarterback Vince Young eyes improvement in performance – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles’ backup quarterback Vince Young, who replaced injured Michael Vick in the week 11 game of the National Football League current season against New York Giants, has said that he will bring further improvements
in his game if given more chances.
Against Giants, Young completed 23 passes of 36 attempts for 258 yards. He recorded two passing touchdowns and made three interceptions to lead his team to a victory at the MetLife Stadium.
Eagles are going to take on New England Patriots in the week 12 game, and Young’s participation in the game will largely depend upon the progress of Michael Vick’s injury.
"It's getting better, just not there yet,'' coach Andy Reid said on Wednesday about Vick."If he can go, then he goes. And if not, then he doesn't.''
Young, 28, started his professional career in the year 2006 Tennessee Titans. After spending five seasons with the franchise, he joined Eagles in the year 2011. He has played three games this season and started only one of them.
His appearance on the field is more or less dependent upon the availability of Vick.
Young was contented after the victory on last Sunday, but said that there was room for more improvement.
“The biggest thing was that I wanted to get guys out of the huddle, call the right plays, and keep a good tempo. I think did a pretty good job with that," he said. "I'm happy about some of the things I did on the field, but I am
not satisfied.”
Patriots are not going to be an easy opponent as they are leading the American Football Conference East division with seven victories and three defeats. Young thinks that it will be a pressure game and said that Eagles are going
to practise hard for the game, just as they did last week.
Meanwhile, Eagles’ coach also seems pleased with Young. After the game against Giants, he appreciated Young and said that replacing Vick was a tough job that Young did impressively. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, the
coach mentioned the mood of the players and said that they were comfortable playing with Young.
“The guys on this team have a lot of confidence in Vince,” the coach said.
