Eagles’ quarterback Michael Vick ready to take on New York Jets – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick returned after recovering from an injury to lead his team to a much-needed victory last week against Miami Dolphins. Eagles are not yet eliminated from the playoff race, thanks to that
win. Vick, whose absence was desperately felt by the Eagles, is now ready to take on New York Jets in the week 15-game and hopes to win it as well.
Owing to two broken ribs, Vick missed three games and his team lost two of them. Fortunately for the Eagles, Vick’s comeback snapped their losing streak. Vick wants to make sure that his team wins the rest of the games and reach
the postseason through a wildcard.
“We’re just fighting to stay alive. We need to take it one game at a time and control the things that we can control, which is us winning our final three games. That starts Sunday against the Jets.”
Vick recalled his rib injury from last year that forced him out of three games and said that it was relatively easier to overcome that injury. This time, he said, the injury was much tougher. The All-Pro quarterback is still feeling
a little pain in his ribs, but he thinks that he is getting stronger with each passing day.
“Physically I’m getting better, but it’s been difficult. When you break your ribs, it takes a while for them to recover, so it’s going to hurt a lot until they’re fully healed. I’m still sore from Sunday, but I’m just working
hard and fighting to stay out there with my teammates. I want to be accountable to all of them.”
Vick has played 10 games this season. He has completed 196 passes of 330 attempts for 2,401 yards. He also has 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions under his belt. He has a quarterback rating of 78.9.
In the game against Dolphins, he sent 15 successful passes of 30 attempts for 208 yards while throwing a touchdown and an interception.
Eagles have won five games this season and lost eight. They are placed at third spot in the National Football Conference East division ranking. After the Jets, they are going to face Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins in the
week 16 and 17 respectively.
