Eagles’ running back LeSean McCoy comes for Coach Andy Reid’s rescue – NFL News
Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy is the latest player to come to rescue coach Andy Reid, who is in the line of fire for the franchise’s poor performance in this National Football League current season.
Eagles were considered as a ‘Dream Team’ before the start of the season due to acquisition of many star players, but against all the hopes, Eagles have lost eight games this season and do not have a chance to enter playoffs as
the National Football Conference East division is dominated by Dallas Cowboys with seven victories.
During the week 12 game when Eagles lost to New England Patriots, the annoyed fans blamed Andy Reid for the failures and called for firing him. Andy himself took the responsibility of the defeat and pointed out that the team’s
defence was weak.
However, LeSean McCoy does not think that putting all the blame on Andy is justified. He said before the Thursday’s game against Seattle Seahawks that it is not Andy who plays on the field, but the players.
"If he was winning all these games and the 'Dream Team' thing was still buzzing it, they would be putting him up there with the greats," McCoy said. "He takes all the blame and it's not his fault. He's not out there missing tackles,
missing catches, fumbling the ball, turnovers. He has nothing to do with that."
When asked about what was the main problem for Eagles this season, McCoy said that there were a few small things that were affecting the team’s record. He was of the view that they players are very talented, but said that inconsistent
and undisciplined performance is the reason behind the failure.
McCoy is not the first one to support his coach. Earlier, Vince Young, who has replaced injured quarterback Michael Vick, also paid high regards to Andy, saying that the coach is not the only one responsible for Eagles’ failure
this season. Young had said that the players would continue to fight hard for Andy.
"Andy's a tremendous guy," he said. "I have the utmost respect for him. Fans don't understand some of the situations that goes on during the game. You can't put it all on Andy.”
