Question:

Ear Infection Still?

I've had puss in my ear for about a week and a half. I've been taking antibiotics the whole time, but I'm still having hearing problems. I never had any serious pain in my ear, I just hear a high pitch sound and can't hear very well from only one ear. Is there something I can do to make my hearing return to normal?

P.S.-I don't know of puss is still in my ear.

  1. A high-pitched ringing sound usually indicates some level of permanent loss.  It would be impossible to say how much until the infection is cleared up.  If you are having vertigo, difficulty equalizing pressure, pain, and/or sounds like you're underwater, then your infection hasn't cleared up completely.  Keep in contact with your doctor.  S/he will prescribe progressively stronger antibiotics until the infection is gone.  Also, make sure you're following the instructions on your prescription.  Don't miss doses.  Antibiotics are most effective if the level in your blood is constant.

  2. you should be cleaning ur ears out everyday with a solution. if the doctor isnt giveing you anything to do this, you need to go to a different doctor. it could be a yeast infection.

  3. well, I suggest that u have to see an ENT specialist and ask him for an ear swab culture and u could just ask him for ear clearing sloution.
