hi, im 15 and got my ears gauged to an 8g. i planned to go up to a 2g. my parents are divorced and my mom was okay with it. but when my dad saw it he flipped, he told me if i didnt take them out then he wouldnt support me financially. which means no car etc. so i took them out. but i need help seeing his point of view. he wont talk about it so im not sure what he is thinking. i personally think he thinks it looks to q***r. but the way i see it, im going to do it. so why not let me do it now instead of when im older. i mean i can get away with it when im young. but when i have gauged ears at 20 or older i have a job to worry about among other things. any advice and opinions will help. thanks!

  1. Your dad is probably just looking out for you. The working world tends to be VERY judgmental when it comes to any form of body art.

My hubby is extremely blessed that his company allows him to be himself and so he doesn't need to remove/cover anything. He has 20 piercings and 2 tattoos and also has his ears gauged...I don't remember what size. But he also knows that he would have a very difficult time finding work elsewhere. It shouldn't be that way, but sadly, there are many closed minded people in this world! They are really strict even at places like Game Stop! It's ridiculous, but the way of the world nonetheless.

My advice would be to wait and don't do anything drastic. They are cool, but you have to think of how it will impact your life in the long term. It could negatively affect your ability to get a decent job. Also, once your ears are stretched past a certain point, there's no going back.

  2. Eventually they will stretch so badly that they will not be able to be hidden. Your father is only looking out for you. Piercing can be hidden, gauging really cant. if you get gauged and tattooed anywhere that cant be hidden with clothing, you will work in the service industry for the rest of your life. Listen to your father on this one. I work in a corporate office / plant environment. All the people with neck tattoos, sleaves and gauged ears work in the sweltering heat on the plant floor and the people who are able to hide theirs work in the nice air conditioned office.

  3. Umm..idk..he probably thinks you hit this weird phase in your life. Just tell him you haven't changed, it's just your style, the way you dress or peirce for this matter changed..lol

Good Luck talkin to your dad..they can be tough.

  4. you can always try hiding them when you go to your dads?

they have special flesh coloured ones to match your skin that are used for interviews/hiding them etc.

    you can get them on

  5. I know it sucks that your dad doesn't like it, but is it really that bad to abide by that rule?  Are there things that he allows you to do that your happy with?  If there are, it doesn't sound like he is an unreasonable man.  Go easy on him and wait till your a little older to make a decision that will leave permanent marks on you.  It already sounds like your mature just by you realizing how it may affect you when your older to have gauges.  Good luck and I hope everything works out!

  6. Ek.

I would listen to ur dad.

Because CAR! is more important than ear gauging! :D

You got to think about it...

My brother got his ear gauging, but you gotta know that it smells sooo bad, yuck.
